Hedy was born from a desire to help people communicate more effectively and confidently. Recognizing that many struggle with active listening, articulating thoughts, and navigating complex conversations, we created an AI-powered tool to provide real-time support and guidance, empowering individuals to become better communicators and leaders.
Hedy is named after Hedy Lamarr, the iconic Hollywood actress and inventor. Lamarr co-invented a frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology that laid the foundation for modern wireless communication. We chose this name to honor Lamarr's legacy and reflect our commitment to innovation, intelligence, and empowerment.
Hedy listens to your conversations through your device's microphone, transcribes the content in real-time using on-device speech recognition, and sends the transcript to AI models for analysis. Based on that analysis, Hedy provides personalized insights and proactive coaching suggestions to help you excel in your interactions. Your audio never leaves your device.
On desktop (macOS and Windows), Hedy can also listen directly to system audio from virtual meetings, so you don't need to position a separate device near your speakers.
Hedy is available on iOS (iPhone and iPad), Android, macOS, Windows, Apple Watch, and the web at web.hedy.ai. Your sessions sync across all devices when Cloud Sync is enabled.
Automatic Suggestions is Hedy's signature feature. During your conversations, Hedy continuously analyzes the discussion and proactively delivers coaching insights, strategic questions to ask, and observations you might have missed. You don't need to ask for help. Hedy knows when to step in.
Every suggestion goes through AI quality checks to ensure relevance. You can control the frequency (frequent, balanced, or selective) and choose to receive suggestions in chat, as notifications, or both. Automatic Suggestions are available for the first 30 minutes per session on Free, and up to 120 minutes on Pro.
Topics let you group related sessions together by client, project, course, or any category that matters to you. When sessions are organized into a topic, you can chat across all of them at once, and Hedy will reference past sessions during live conversations when a topic is assigned.
Each topic also generates insights including next agenda items, progress summaries, outstanding action items, and key patterns across your meetings. Topics is a Pro feature.

Yes. On macOS and Windows, Hedy captures system audio directly, so it works with any virtual meeting platform including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex, and others. No plugins or browser extensions needed. Just start a Hedy session and join your meeting as usual.
On mobile, Hedy uses the device microphone to capture audio from your environment. For virtual meetings on mobile, you can either use your meeting on speaker and place your phone nearby, or use a separate mobile device running Hedy next to the speakers of the device hosting the meeting. The desktop app is the recommended experience for virtual meetings since it captures audio directly from the system.
On our mobile apps, Hedy can only listen to external conversations, not those occurring on the same device where the app is running. On our native macOS and Windows desktop apps, Hedy can hear any conversations on the device, including virtual meetings.
Here's what you need to know about the mobile apps:
Cloud Sync allows you to access your Hedy session history and data across multiple devices. It synchronizes your sessions, transcripts, summaries, highlights, topics, and to-do items, making them available on mobile, desktop, and the web app at web.hedy.ai.
You can enable Cloud Sync in your app settings. Audio recordings remain on the device where they were captured to manage storage efficiently. Everything else syncs across all your devices.
If you chose the EU data region during account setup, your cloud-synced data is stored on servers in Europe.
Yes, you can capture conversations without an internet connection. Since speech recognition runs on your device, transcription works offline. However, Hedy does require an internet connection for AI features like suggestions, summaries, and chat, as these rely on cloud-based AI models. When you reconnect, your session data will sync normally.

Transcription speed can vary depending on your device's processing power. Hedy uses on-device speech recognition to ensure your privacy, which can be resource-intensive. Transcripts update at most every 5 seconds, and additional updates may occur up to every 30 seconds to revise transcripts.
Regardless of the update frequency, Hedy continues to listen and analyze your entire conversation. The difference is only in how often you see the transcript refresh on your screen. If you're on an older device, try enabling the small speech recognition model in your settings.
You can find your API key in Account Settings in the Hedy app. You will need to create a new API key to get access to it, so be sure to store your key somewhere safe. API access is a Pro feature.

Yes. New users choose their data region (EU or US) during account setup. If you select EU, all your conversation data (sessions, transcripts, topics, highlights, chat history) is stored on servers in Europe, and all AI processing is routed through EU-based infrastructure.
Existing users can route AI processing through EU servers by setting their data protection region to EU in Account Settings. The region choice for new users is permanent and cannot be changed after signup.

No. We have strict agreements with all AI providers prohibiting the use of your data for training purposes. Your conversations are processed only to provide immediate insights, then discarded. Should any future experimental features require different data handling, they would be clearly marked as opt-in only with separate consent requirements.
Yes. Hedy is suitable for various conversation types, including business meetings, lectures, interviews, coaching sessions, medical appointments, negotiations, and personal discussions. Select the appropriate session type based on your conversation's nature, and Hedy will tailor its analysis and suggestions accordingly.
Hedy uses leading AI models and on-device speech recognition to provide highly accurate transcription and analysis. You can further improve accuracy by adding custom vocabulary for industry-specific terms, names, and jargon. However, like any AI system, occasional errors may occur. You can edit transcripts directly in the app and regenerate summaries if needed.
Yes. Pro users can share individual sessions or entire topics with others via email invites or shareable links. Recipients can view transcripts, summaries, and insights. You have full control over what you share, and you can manage or revoke access at any time from the sharing settings.
Yes. Your conversation history is accessible on the device where it was recorded. With Cloud Sync enabled, your sessions are also available across all your devices and the web app at web.hedy.ai. You can search across all sessions, organize them with Topics, and export your data in Markdown, CSV, or JSON format.
macOS
The Hedy Mac app requires macOS 14.2 or newer. We recommend Apple chipsets (M1+). While Hedy also runs on Intel chipsets, you will need to use a smaller speech recognition model for performance reasons.
Windows
The Hedy Windows app requires Windows 10 or newer. GPU acceleration is available for faster processing on supported hardware.
iOS
Our iOS app functions on a wide variety of iPhones, but we recommend at least an iPhone 12 or newer. We also recommend iOS 18+. Apple Watch companion app requires watchOS 10+.
Android
Our Android app requires a minimum of Android 12.
Web
The web app at web.hedy.ai works in any modern browser. Session capture currently requires a native app (mobile or desktop), but you can review sessions, chat, manage topics, and access all Pro features from the browser.
