What is Merge Sessions?
The Merge Sessions feature allows you to combine two separate recording sessions into a single, unified session. This is perfect for meetings that were accidentally split, multi-part conversations, or when you want to analyze related discussions together. Hedy intelligently merges the transcripts, audio files, and generates new AI insights for the combined content.
Getting Started

Open the Hedy app and navigate to the session list

On mobile: Tap the three dots menu (⋮) in the top right

On desktop: Click the merge icon in the toolbar or use the menu

Select “Merge Sessions” from the options

Choose two sessions you want to combine

Configure the merged session settings

Tap “Merge Sessions” to complete the process
How It Works
Hedy’s merge feature intelligently combines your selected sessions while preserving all important information:

Transcript Combination: Both transcripts are merged chronologically with a clear “[Session Break]” marker between them

Audio Merging: Audio files are combined with a 2-second gap for clarity (native apps only)

Smart Ordering: Sessions are automatically arranged by their recording time

AI Reprocessing: The merged session gets new AI-generated title, summary, and insights based on the combined content
Configuration Options
When merging sessions, you can customize:

Meeting Type: Select the appropriate meeting category for better AI analysis

Session Context: Choose relevant context or select “None” for general sessions

Topic Assignment: Organize the merged session under an existing topic or leave unassigned
Best Practices

Merge sessions from the same meeting or related discussions for most coherent results

Review both sessions before merging to ensure they belong together

Choose appropriate meeting type and context for better AI insights

The original sessions remain unchanged - you can always refer back to them

Troubleshooting
I can’t access the merge feature

Merge Sessions is a premium feature - upgrade your subscription to access it

Ensure you have at least two completed sessions to merge

Sessions currently being recorded cannot be merged
The merge process seems stuck

Large sessions may take longer to process - please be patient

Check your internet connection for AI processing

Try merging smaller sessions first to test

Pro tip: Merged sessions are marked with a special suffix in their title, making them easy to identify in your session list. The original sessions remain untouched, so you never lose your source recordings.
